Nrityanjali Dance Academy

Prajakta Trehan is an exponent of Kathak dance. Under the expert training and guidance of Late Guru Asha Joglekar, Prajakta learned all the positive and strong elements of the three gharanas (schools/styles) of Kathak keeping out their short comings. This can be clearly seen and experienced in her performance. Prajakta has won many accolades including the coveted Shringaar Mani title .Prajakta is now keeping the tradition alive by sharing her experiences and knowledge with her students at Nrityanjali Dance Academy.

At Nrityanjali Dance academy students learn Kathak dance including the basics of rhythm, body vocabulary, mathematics, and the spoken language called bols, and historical context. As they move up from the beginners to the intermediate and the advanced levels they learn the nuances of expressions and the basic essence of Kathak – the storytelling. The Director/ Instructor Prajakta Trehan creates an environment of movement, music, culture and fun where students are encouraged to experience, explore and excel in the traditional Indian Dance form Kathak. The Kathak syllabus taught at the dance school has been appreciated and approved by the Canadian Dance Teachers Association.

Students of Nrityanjali Dance Academy have won the Surrey Festival of Dance medals and trophies for the past 5 years. Prajakta has also been awarded the best choreography award at the Show Time Promotions.
